I consider my ears to be average size, and these cups indeed fit OVER my entire ear rather than on top. If your ears are larger, you might try maneuvering the cup a little to see if they fit inside the oval hole better. The foam is comfortable yet dense enough to significantly deaden ambient noise without being turned on.Once turned on, there is a dedicated button to select “ANC” (active noise cancellation via use of counter-frequencies that does an impressive job of further deadening noise) or “Ambient Aware” (which uses the mic to let in ambient sound so you’re not oblivious to traffic, people speaking, etc.). You could use these on a flight to block out much of the engine and other noise without needing to play music, a movie, etc.Pairing these to my phone was quick and intuitive, with a pleasant female voice announcing the status. I’m not an audiophile, but can tell the difference between good quality and mediocre sound. They provide crisp sound with a nice balance of bass, mid and high frequencies that sound natural and accurate without having to adjust the EQ on my devices. Volume levels seem comparable to other Bluetooth headphones I own, though the mic on phone calls might be just a tad softer, though clear. No headphones are as compact and portable as earbuds, but I hate sticking them in my ears. My comparably priced on-ear headphones from a different brand also sound very good, but after an hour the pressure on my ears starts to get painful. By contrast, these fit snugly with just enough pressure to stay secure without discomfort. Over-ear designs tend to be bulkier and this is no exception, though it’s slightly more compact than other models I’ve tried. Yes, you still will look geeky, but who cares?Battery charging/duration seem fine, as is the build quality despite being all-plastic. Total weight is 8 ounces, which is 2 ounces more than my smaller, primarily metal, on-ear headphones. But that extra weight isn’t noticeable and overall comfort and sound quality is superior, so I have no complaints.

I am a member of the Amazon Vine program. I order new items, and then write honest, unbiased reviews of that product, along with my impressions and experiences. I am not paid for these reviews. My wife likes to listen to “Asian Dramas”. I don’t quite get it, since she cannot understand the dialogue and has to rely on sub-titles. Never-the-less, if it makes her happy, I am happy. These very nice JBL Tune 770C “adaptive noise cancelling” smart wireless headphones are my attempt to let her listen to her dramas as much and as loudly as she pleases – without my having to listen in.This is a good set of wireless headphones from a leading name in this field. They feature a long battery life, easy re-charging with the included USB-C charging cable, and the ability to connect easily to your smart phone so you can listen to your tunes, and answer the phone when you get a call. The sound quality is quite good. The “ambient sound control” feature is a bonus. You can set this feature to cancel out the sounds around you on a noisy airline flight or bus ride, so you can enjoy the peace and quiet. Using the downloadable JBL Headphones App you can select the best mode of sound reproduction for your purposes at the moment. You can also set the bass-level, treble-level, or any other equalizer settings you prefer.Let address one thing other reviewers have mentioned. I am a size large man, and my old ears are pretty darn big. (I won’t say they are quite “dumbo” sized…….) I tried these headphones on myself, and they covered my ears comfortably. My ears actually did fit inside the ear cups, without getting pinched at all. The headband also adjusted to fit me quite well. My wife, with smaller dimensions do deal with, finds these headphones to be very comfortable. She likes them. I recommend them!

I have tinnitus (forever ringing in ears), so, I don’t expect to ever hear or be able to tell what’s the best audio experience beyond a certain level. The sound quality with these works really well, as much as I can tell with decent bass, and full range that I can hear.My only complaint is that I have average sized ears and the earphones on these are a bit small, as if they’re made for a child. The band across head is adjustable and the size on that is fine. The earphones themselves however, feel too small. As such they’re not overly comfortable to binge a whole season of something, or wear for multiple hours, but I’m going to accept that as a feature to remind me to step away from tech for a bit.

These JBL over-ear headphones produce great sound. It was important to use the JBL Headphones app to access the equalizer to adjust the sound to my listening preferences. Out of the box, the sound is too base heavy for me. I needed to tone down the base and increase the volume of the high notes to compensate for some hearing loss. Once I got it all set up, I just started listening to music as it sounded so good.Next I played around with the noise cancelling feature. I turned on the TV with the booming surround sound to see if I could hear it over the music. With the music at a decent volume, I could not hear the TV, but some of the big booms I could feel. Turning on ambient aware mode, I could hear the TV but couldn’t make out the voices until I turned the music down. With the music turned off, I could hear voices at 85% in ambient mode and it drops to about 25% in noise cancelling mode.Connecting the headphone over Bluetooth was straightforward and seamless operation. The ability to connect to two devices is very convenient. After wearing the headphones for an hour, my ears got tired from the pressure. This is the only issue I have with them. Maybe they will loosen up over time. Otherwise they are great headphones.

I like the fact that they totally fit over my large head, encasing my ears correctly at the maximum size pulled out. The pads are vey comfortable, and I can wear them comfortably for a long time.I like that the “quick start guide” said on the “Tech Spec” page: Power supply: 5V==1A. Some items do not specify, but with these I know not to use the 5V==2A adapter I have for charging them. The female voice is clear and easy to understand. The “noise cancelling” does reduce sound. I can not really tell much difference between “ambient aware” and “talk through” modes, even the sound I hear does change slightly, but on my wife’s voice, I really cannot tell much difference. However, when I am playing mp3’s through “Samsung Music” on my phone, when I switch to “talk through,” I quit hearing the music totally.I am impressed with the Android app “JBL Headphones”! It is very well done and I really like the equalizer. The “Extreme Bass” is my favorite! I am VERY impressed that I can listen to my mp3s on my Windows 11 computer using “Media Player”, not the music on my phone, but the equalizer on my phone in the “JBL Headphones” app still works! The phone function is fantastic! I can hear the caller perfectly in stereo, and my wife says that my voice sounds very clear talking to her.The buttons are smartly arranged and work great.

These headphones are ok but I don’t like that you can’t turn off the ANC. I didn’t download the app so maybe you can that way ?? The sound is decent but not as good as older generation JBL wireless headphones. They are not as clear and bass is weak. The comfort is also horrible because they say over ear but they sit on your ear. This set of JBL headphones was a disappointment for me.

I set these up in no time, connected and charged. They are very flexible and fit over my giant head easily. I love that the inside top of the headband, has a nice padded cushion to keep them very comfy. The first day I wore them for 6 hours of meetings and calls and had superior sound and noise blocking from first call to last disconnect. They were comfy, didn’t make my ears sweat and didn’t pinch. They’re easy to adjust the volume. Download the app and you get more adjustable settings. The hardest thing I dealt with was looking for the charging hole. They do a really decent job of blocking out background noise like the dog barking or the TV commercials when the volume shoots up. I associate JBL with great sound and audio products and these headphones don’t disappoint. I’ve got an upcoming 6 hour flight and these puppies are coming with me. They fit nicely in one of my ditty bags. The charging cable works great. The audio cord are perfect if you want to roll old school and hard wire in your sound source. Get a lot of quality at a fair dollar. I wouldn’t hesitate to gift these to anyone who travels a lot or likes their sound without background noise. I’m a fan!

Things to know -* I am not a technical audiophile. I like what I like, and I like the earphones I have for various reasons. All I can speak to is how stuff sounds to me.* I had three pairs of over-the-ear headphones prior to acquiring these. 1 Sennheiser wireless, 1 Sennheiser wired, and a cheap pair of Sony’s. I also have assorted ear buds and conductive ear buds, including AirPods Pro.* In short, I have a ridiculous number of listening devices. I want 2 things – volume and clarity. That’s really it. Seems simple. Is not simple.Okay, so I have had fantastic luck with JBL products in the past, including a pair of ear buds I adored. I wanted a smaller pair of OTE’s that had noise cancelling options for travel. The Sennheiser’s are a lot, even though they fold. Plus, expensive, so I am sure I will leave them somewhere in some airport and the sound is so concentrated they start to give me a headache after a few hours. Anyway, The noise canceling feature is very good. Love the ambient and speech options. By far the best feature of the JBL’s.The app allows for quick, simple preset EQ choices for different listening experiences. I had good luck with the voice EQ for podcasting. And across the EQ options, the voice stays front and center. Basically, lots of midrange.I started to notice issues that escalated along with volume. At higher volumes, a complex song kind of sounds muddy and midrange is blasting over bass and treble. Trying to pick out an individual instrument is difficult. The cacophonous noise separates itself out a bit better at lower volumes, but I like volume. Child of the 80’s, what can I say?The fit is good. No ear pain or headache. No bleeding except at highest volumes, which even I don’t typically use for prolonged periods. Except for the muddiness at high volume, these aren’t bad. The JBL’s will work for my purposes, as I want them for travel, when I am listening to podcasts. The battery life is fantastic.Bottom line – good for voice and casual music listening at lower volumes. If you are looking for serious music equipment, save up your money and get Sennheiser’s or something comparable.

If you are looking for top of the line noise canceling and quality, I would argue that these are not it. That said, JBL is a solid brand. My sister has had several of their speakers for years now and has only ever added to her collection and upgraded size by choice, never because of defect. She is a serious bass lover and throws a lot of parties… so if that sounds like you, you’ll appreciate the quality. As headphones, I don’t think they’re bad, especially for the price. I’ve tried other “bigger” brands that are more than 3x the cost and these are a decent trade off. A drawback for me is the comfort. They sit well but are a hot non breathable material over the ear, so after any real use, I feel hot. Noise cancelling has to be my other biggest complaint. It does cancel sound, but just not as well as the other more expensive ones I’ve used, and I’m not sure how to explain it any better than that unfortunately… Good for dramatically reduced everyday noise and even a screaming kid though so still worth it. Pros would be the in app equalizer option and the app itself. Super user friendly setup! These are a great pick overall if you’re in the under $200 price range for purchasing.
